The State of Illinois believes everyone deserves access to good, affordable health care and no senior or person with a disability should have to worry about how to pay for the high cost of prescription drugs. Illinois Cares Rx provides state prescription assistance to people with and without Medicare. Illinois Cares Rx provides two prescription drug benefits: Illinois Cares Rx Plus and Illinois Cares Rx Basic.
Illinois Cares Rx Plus
Adults 65 years of age or older who:
✦are U.S. citizens or qualified immigrants;
✦have a total annual income of no more than $24,891 ($33,487 for couples).
If you qualify, Illinois Cares Rx Plus covers almost all prescription drugs.
Illinois Cares Rx Basic.
Adults 65 years of age or older or people with disabilities aged 16 and over and have a total annual income of:
✦no more than $25,532 if you are filing an application for yourself;
✦no more than $33,877 if you filing an application for you and your spouse or one qualified additional resident;
✦less than $42,220 if you are filing an application for you, your spouse and one other qualified additional resident or for you and at least two qualified additional residents.
If you qualify, Illinois Cares Rx Basic will cover prescription drugs that treat 11 common diseases: Alzheimers disease, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, glaucoma, heart disease and its related conditions, HIV/AIDS (if eligible for Medicare), lung disease and smoking-related illnesses, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis and Parkinsons disease.
If you have Medicare, Illinois Cares Rx will help pay for drugs on your coordinating Medicare Part D prescription drug plan's list of covered drugs (formulary).
To qualify for IllinoisCares Rx people with Medicare Must:
apply for Medicares ExtraHelp from Social Security and, be in a coordinating Medicare drug plan to maximize benefits.

Illinois Cares Rx
Orland Township offers assistance to area seniors who need help in completing their state and federal tax forms. The tax preparers are volunteers that complete a four week course offered through PLOWS Council on Aging. Call after February 2 for an appointment.
Circuit Breaker/Pharmaceutical Assistance
The Orland Township Activity center is open on Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Residents can participate both days if they choose to play cards, games, bingo and have refreshments, including monthly hot lunches. This popular social opportunity offers seniors a place to gather and make new acquaintances.
Senior Drop-In Center
If your income is less than $22,218 for a one person household, or $29,480 for a two-person household, and you are 65 years of age or older, or disabled, you may qualify for the Circuit Breaker/Pharmaceutical Assistance Program. Circuit Breaker forms are available at the Orland Township office. If you need assistance in completing the application, contact the Orland Township office at (708) 403-4222.
Income Tax Assistance
This is a review test for those who must take the written or driving test to renew their driver's license. This FREE class is offered four times a year. Classes will be held in the Orland Township Activity Center from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Call (708)403-4222 for more information or to register for the Rules of the Road Class.
Rules of the Road
Orland Township is a key center, providing photo service and registration. Senior Citizens ages 65 or older and persons receiving Social Security disability benefits can register in person for the RTA Reduced Fare Permit.

Monthly Seminars are held in the Orland Township Activity Center. Seminar topics include a wide variety of issues that affect the daily living of senior citizens in our community. Call the Orland Township office for more information about the schedule for seminars.(708)403-4222.
Senior Seminars
This two-day class is designed to help older drivers improve their skills and prevent traffic accidents. Course completion may qualify you for a discount on the liability portion of your automobile insurance. Classes begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at approximately 1:00 p.m. There is a $12.00 fee AARP members and $14.00 for non-members. Please make fee payable to the instructor on the first day..
