Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Avenue, is hosting a singing tryout for its upcoming fundraiser “Senior American Idol”, benefitting the Orland Township Scholarship Foundation.
Tryouts, open to seniors 55 and older, are scheduled for Wednesday, February 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Orland Township Activity Center. Participants should come prepared to perform an audition song of no longer than two minutes.
The main event and fundraiser will be held at Georgios Banquets, 8800 W. 159th Street on Thursday, May 9 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 and are now available for purchase at the Orland Township office. The price includes a plated dinner, and audience members will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite Orland Township senior singer.
Following the hugely successful “Dancing with the Senior Stars” event last fall, Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady and the Senior Services department recently embarked on a quest to bring a similar type of entertainment back to the seniors of the township, while also continuing to raise funds for the scholarship foundation.
