National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive

The National Association of Letter Carriers, along with the Orland Park Post Office, will be collecting non-perishable food items on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Residents need to place their food donations near their mailbox and a letter carrier will pick up the food and deliver it to the Orland Township Food Pantry, 14807 S. Ravinia. Donations needed include: vegetables, soups, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni & cheese, rice, pasta, and paper products. For further information, please call Marianne Hill, at (708) 403-4222.

"Senior American Idol"

Orland Township is hosting a second major fundraiser for its scholarship foundation. “Senior American Idol”, presented by Supervisor Paul O’Grady and the Elected Officials, is scheduled for Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will be held at Georgios Banquets, 8800 W. 159th Street. All ages are welcome.

Tickets are still available for $25 and can be purchased at the Orland Township office, 14807 S. Ravinia Avenue, during business hours. All proceeds will benefit the scholarship foundation.

Hiring Companies Invited to Upcoming Orland Township Job Fair

Orland Township is hosting a job fair on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 14807 S. Ravinia Avenue. Companies that are currently hiring for open positions are invited to attend the job fair. There is no company participation fee.

Representatives may choose to attend the full event or participate in one of two shifts: 10 a.m. to noon or noon to 2 p.m.

A table and two chairs will be provided for company representatives attending and a catered lunch will be served at noon on the day of the fair.

"Sustainable Saturday" at the Highway Department

Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady and Highway Commissioner Brian Younker are hosting “Sustainable Saturday” on Saturday, March 9 at the Highway Department, 16125 S. Wolf Road. Co-hosted by Vintage Tech Recyclers of Romeoville, the event will be held free of charge from 8 a.m. to noon. Assistance unloading will be available.

Orland Township Celebrates Older Americans Month in a Grand Old Way

May is Older Americans Month, a month dedicated to showing appreciation for the older members of communities throughout the country. Following tradition, Orland Township will once again recognize and honor the contributions and achievements of its own older members.

Job Interviewing Workshop Set for March 27

Purdue University Calumet professor Dr. Casey Barczyk and Orland Township will host a two-hour job interviewing workshop on Tuesday, March 27.

Dr. Barczyk's workshop will cover the anatomy of an interview, the five common types of interviews, tips for a behavioral interview, body image and language, answering difficult questions, and assessing skills and traits using power adjectives.
