The Orland Township Health Services department is hosting its annual back-to-school health fair. The free fair is scheduled for Saturday, July 13, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the grounds of the township, 14807 S. Ravinia Avenue. No appointment is necessary but participants must display proof of residency.
A variety of back-to-school services will be offered to residents on this day, including:
Firehouse Subs, 15892 S. LaGrange Road, is donating 15% of its proceeds on Thursday, June 20, 2013 to the Orland Township Youth Commission and its upcoming “Orland Township Youth Commission Remembers Those Who Suffer in Silence 5k Race”, a fundraiser supporting suicide prevention.
From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Firehouse Subs customers can present the designated fundraising flyer when ordering to have their order count towards the commission’s fundraising efforts. The flyer can be found here or at www.facebook.com/supervisorogrady.
U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski will be hosting a Veterans Fair on June 17 in Orland Park. Rep. Lipinski’s staff will be joined by the Illinois and U.S. Departments of Veterans Affairs and other organizations to assist veterans with a variety of issues, including military personnel and medical records, veterans’ claims and benefits, medals earned but not received, VA Hospital billing, placement in VA homes, GI Bill information and other veterans’ issues.
Orland Township is hosting a FREE job fair for those in search of employment on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place in the Orland Township Activity Center, located at 14807 S. Ravinia Avenue in Orland Park.
The National Association of Letter Carriers, along with the Orland Park Post Office, will be collecting non-perishable food items on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Residents need to place their food donations near their mailbox and a letter carrier will pick up the food and deliver it to the Orland Township Food Pantry, 14807 S. Ravinia. Donations needed include: vegetables, soups, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni & cheese, rice, pasta, and paper products. For further information, please call Marianne Hill, at (708) 403-4222.
Orland Township is hosting a second major fundraiser for its scholarship foundation. “Senior American Idol”, presented by Supervisor Paul O’Grady and the Elected Officials, is scheduled for Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will be held at Georgios Banquets, 8800 W. 159th Street. All ages are welcome.
Tickets are still available for $25 and can be purchased at the Orland Township office, 14807 S. Ravinia Avenue, during business hours. All proceeds will benefit the scholarship foundation.

Orland Township Youth & Family Services Offers Gently Used Prom Dresses to High School Students in Need.
Orland Township is hosting a job fair on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 14807 S. Ravinia Avenue. Companies that are currently hiring for open positions are invited to attend the job fair. There is no company participation fee.
Representatives may choose to attend the full event or participate in one of two shifts: 10 a.m. to noon or noon to 2 p.m.
A table and two chairs will be provided for company representatives attending and a catered lunch will be served at noon on the day of the fair.
