Senior Drop-In Center

The Orland Township Activity center is open on Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Residents can participate both days if they choose to play cards, games, bingo and have refreshments, including monthly hot lunches. This popular social opportunity offers seniors a place to gather and make new acquaintances.
Rules of the Road
This is a review test for those who must take the written or driving test to renew their driver's license. This FREE class is offered six times a year. Classes will be held in the Orland Township Acitivity Center from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the following dates in 2008:

RTA Reduced Fare Permit
Orland Township is a key center, providing photo service and registration. Senior Citizens ages 65 or older and persons receiving Social Security disability benefits can register in person for the RTA Reduced Fare Permit.
Income Tax Assistance
Orland Township offers assistance to area seniors who need help in completing their state and federal tax forms. The tax preparers are volunteers that complete a four week course offered through PLOWS Council on Aging. Call after February 2 for an appointment.
Senior Seminars
Monthly Seminars are held in the Orland Township Activity Center. Seminar topics include a wide variety of issues that affect the daily living of senior citizens in our community. Call the Orland Township office for more information about the schedule for seminars.(708)403-4222.
Circuit Breaker/Pharmaceutical Assistance Program
If your income is less than $21,218 for a one person household, or $28,480 for a two-person household, and you are 65 years of age or older, or disabled, you may qualify for the Circuit Breaker/Pharmaceutical Assistance Program. Circuit Breaker forms are available at the Orland Township office. If you need assistance in completing the application, contact the Orland Township office at (708) 403-4222.
Senior Program Registration Information
All residents should register for a permanent senior identification number. Proof of residency is required to obtain an ID card.

55 Alive Defensive Driving Class
This two-day class is designed to help older drivers improve their skills and prevent traffic accidents. Course completion may qualify you for a discount on the liability portion of your automobile insurance. Classes begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at approximately 1:00 p.m. There is a $10.00 fee for the class payable to the instructor on the first day.. Classes will be held in the Orland Township Acitivity Center from on the following dates in 2008:

Emergency Identification Bracelet Program
Residents can obtain a personal emergency identification bracelet at the Orland Township office. The cost of the bracelet is $10.00 for stainless steel and $12.00 for gold. Proof of residency is required. Bracelets will be available to those with a medical problem, as well as those who simply want their vital emergency information on record. The purpose of the program is to allow emergency personnel quick access to important information when accidents, etc. occur.
Vial of Life
In the event of a medical emergency, your current medical history will be on hand so that medical personnel can act quickly, should you not be able to provide the information. A special Vial of Life container will hold a rolled up medical information form(s) for each member of your household. A bright pink sticker will identify the container, which will be kept in the refrigerator. Local municipalities recognize this program, and the fire and police departments are aware of all aspects of it.

4th Wednesday - 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Orland Township Activity Center, Orland Park

Orland Township Senior Citizen Advisory Council The Orland Township Senior Council serves as an advisory board, making recommendations to the Orland Township board of Trustees regarding senior programs and services. The meetings are held quarterly at the Orland Township Activity Center.
