S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together)

The Cook County Sheriff's Police sponsors this innovative program. Meetings are held monthly on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Orland Township Activity Center. The main functions of S.A.L.T. is to act as an advisory group for the areas law enforcement personnel. Each meeting will focus on crime and security issues as related to the other individual. After attending, you will become more informed about the criminal justice system, become an informed support and public relations group for law enforcement, and provide an ongoing channel for information exchange between the community's seniors and law enforcement.

What is S.A.L.T.?

S.A.L.T.'s main function is to act as an advisory group for the area's law enforcement personnel. The focus is on crime and security issues as related to the older individual. S.A.L.T. is sponsored by the Cook County Sheriff's Police.

What are the activities of S.A.L.T.?

Each council pursues issues and activities appropriate for the particular community and the needs of seniors there. Meetings are held monthly on the 4th Tuesday in the Orland Township Activity Center, 15100 S. 94th Ave., Orland Park. Field trips will also be offered to various sites of interest.

What will I learn when I join S.A.L.T.?

You will become more informed about the criminal justice system; become an informed support and public relations group for law enforcement; provide an ongoing channel for information exchange between the community's seniors and law enforcement.

Who can join S.A.L.T.?

Any persons 55 years of age and older living in Orland Township.

How do I join S.A.L.T.?

It's easy!!! All you have to do is contact the Orland Township office at (708) 403-4222 and register.

What topics are discussed at the S.A.L.T. meetings?

Topics include various points of interest regarding crime and security, such as drugs, the job of the Postal Inspector, Search and Rescue canines, and the secret service to name just a few. The local police departments will also provide important information about their facilities. Refreshments will also be provided.
