   COMMUNITY OUTREACH

The community outreach faction of the department is how we stay connected to the community and attempt to actively participate in the various domains of human involvement. We operate "Alternative to Detention groups in the local high schools. We actively participate in The Lion's Club functions, such as "Haunted Woods". The department works collaboratively with the Orland Park Police Department to provide quality programming such as the annual "Cosmic Bowl", and the "Get to Know Us, Get to Know You Barbecue". We offer non-competitive sports clinics such as our Soccer Clinic instructed by Denis Hamlet, Assistant Coach of the Chicago Fire.

Every year we host an annual "Bag for Bucks", bean bag tournament/ fundraiser for the Orland Township Scholarship Fund designed to financially assist a college bound Orland Township youth with expenses. We offer a camp for young people who have had a difficult year socially, called C.H.A.M.P.S CAMP. The acronym stands for Children Having A More Productive Summer. Our outreach also includes education. The U.of I. also offers budgetary and nutritional seminars. Our "Holiday Magic, Stress Be Gone" workshop consists of an evening of yoga, pampering services and novel gift items is a repeated crowd pleaser.
