SNOW REMOVAL
Winter Alert
The winter parking restriction ordinance is now in effect and will be strictly enforced. Parking is prohibited after a 2-inch snowfall. Please remove all vehicles from township roads as soon as 2 inches of snow has accumulated whether this is 3 a.m. or 3 p.m. When plows have to go around a parked vehicle, the snow left on the street freezes and creates a dangerous condition. Now is the time to clean out the garage so that it can be used to protect your vehicle during the winter months.
Mail Boxes
The Orland Township Road District will replace mailboxes damaged by plows with a standard mailbox and a 4 X 4 post as soon as the frost is out of the ground. A temporary repair will be made so that residents will not have any undue inconvenience in receiving their mail. When purchasing a mailbox, consider its sturdiness and resistance to the force, weight, and sweep of plowed snow.
Snow Stakes Available
Snow stakes are available at the township garage. Placement of these stakes along the outer easement will assist the plow driver in determining curb placement, and lessen the possibility of damaged sod. Report sod damage to the highway department at 403-5148 by April 15th.
